Normal train operations resume at West Bengal train accident site after two days

At least 12 coaches of the Guwahati-bound train, which originated in Bikaner, derailed in the Alipurduar section in West Bengal at 5pm on Thursday (January 13). At least nine people were killed while 36 others left injured due to the accident.

The Bikaner-Guwahati Express originated from Bikaner in Rajasthan and was heading to Guwahati in Assam via Patna.(PTI)

Ready to replace bio-toilets with airplane-like toilets, says railway minister Piyush Goyal

As of May 31, 1,36,965 bio-toilets have been fitted in 37,411 coaches, at a cost of around ₹1 lakh per toilet, according to railway ministry officials.

There is a plan to install bio-toilets in around 18,750 more coaches by March 2019, when all the coaches of the Indian Railways will be fitted with such toilets, costing the national transporter around <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>250 crore.(File photo)
