Mizoram: 14 killed as stone quarry collapses due to heavy rainfall

The incident happened around 6am in an area between Melthum and Hlimen on the southern outskirts of the Aizawl town

According to official reports, 14 people have died so far. (ANI)

At least 8 workers dead, four still missing after Mizoram stone quarry collapses

Hnahthial superintendent of police (SP) Vineet Kumar said the collapse occurred at around 3pm on Monday when labourers were collecting stones in the quarry in Maudarh village - about 43 minutes from Hnahthial town.

Year after tragedy, Goa govt pledges to seal open cast stone quarries

The decision comes after a meeting of a special committee set up by the National Green Tribunal, tasked with finding a solution to the recurring problem of open stone quarries posing a threat to wandering children as well as wildlife which get trapped.

Three daily labourers in Odisha killed in stone quarry mishap

The deceased have been identified as Bhakta Parida, Namita Naik and Pankaja Dash. While Bhakta was a resident of Bikrampur village in Khollikote area, Namita and Pankaja were staying in Tanganapani village at the outskirts of Berhampur city.

Death toll rises to 5 in stone quarry mishap in Sonbhadra as rescue ops end

A 40-member team of the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) recovered five bodies from the quarry in a rescue operation which lasted over 38 hours.

One body recovered from stone quarry in UP’s Sonbhadra, 3 feared trapped

Female elephant killed, another hurt as speeding truck hits them in Odisha’s Dhenkanal

The accident occurred when three elephants were crossing the National Highway 55 at Jeevankhol Ashram under the Sadar forest range of Dhenkanal early this morning.

Bengal cops seize huge quantity of explosives, Bangladeshi terror link suspected

West Bengal police seized 11,000 gelatin sticks, 50,000 detonators and a huge quantity of ammonium nitrate from the Jharkhand border, which some officers suspect was meant for the banned Bangladeshi outfit Jamaat-ul-Mujahideen Bangladesh.
