In Chandigarh, failed food samples see 13% surge in a year

Elderly patient succumbs to Covid in Panchkula, second in 3 days

Mohali had the most number of new Covid cases at 43, followed by Panchkula with 35 cases and Chandigarh with 24 cases. Most of these patients are in home isolation and only 17 from Chandigarh, five from Panchkula, and two from Mohali are hospitalised.

Isolated rain fails to keep searing heat in city at bay

Delhi experienced a maximum temperature of 36.7°C on Wednesday, one degree above normal for this time of year, with isolated parts experiencing a drizzle in the morning. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) said southwesterly winds blew towards the region in the last 24 hours, which brought some moisture from the Arabian sea, leading to localised rain spells in some parts. The rise in mercury is likely to continue, with temperatures forecast to touch 37°C on Thursday, 38°C by Friday and 39°C on Saturday, and cross the 40-degree mark by Sunday.
