Yamuna Expressway bus accident: Non-functional GPS device, no record of speed

Officials said the GPS device fitted into the bus was not functioning and the vehicle had no connection with the VTS at the UPSRTC headquarters at the time it fell into a drain.

Auto, taxi unions go on strike on Monday, Delhi-NCR commuters may face problems

The auto-rickshaw, taxi strike will be for one day only. Supporters have threatened to block major roads in Delhi and the national capital region (NCR).

Speed governors must on school buses by September 30

The regional transport department officials said nearly 1,600 school buses and another nearly 25,000 commercial vehicles such as trucks, buses, etc will have to mandatorily install these devices to restrict the speed up to 60kmph and 80kmph for different category of vehicles.

Buses without speed limiting devices play with lives, says Bombay high court

The Maharashtra government on Wednesday promised the Bombay high court that it would conduct special drives to check whether private tourist buses were fitted with speed governors.

Transport department fixes norms for speed limit devices in commercial vehicles

Uttar Pradesh transport department has fixed rules for the installation of speed limiting devices in transport or commercial vehicles asking manufacturing companies/dealers and officials to start fitment work.

The rules laid down by the Centre in 2012 expected transport vehicles manufactured on October 1, 2015 or after to be fitted with SLD at the level of manufacturer/dealer.(Representative image)
