New DGP: Haryana refuses to send Manoj Yadava’s name to UPSC

The Haryana government’s move is aimed at ensuring that three IPS officers serving in the state- Muhammad Akil and RC Mishra of the 1989 batch and Shatrujeet Kapur, 1990-batch, get empaneled on the basis of seniority, merit and experience by the UPSC.

New Haryana DGP: Within 48 hrs, UPSC asks Haryana for Manoj Yadava’s service record

Commission seeks inclusion of his name in light of Supreme Court’s directives and undertakings given by the Union ministry of home affairs in the apex court that that the consent of an officer is not required for the purpose of empanelment as DGP of the state.

Police-drug mafia nexus: CM Mann dismisses former Moga SSP, orders VB probe

Former Moga senior superintendent of police (SSP) Raj Jit Singh Hundal has been dismissed from service and is facing a vigilance bureau probe into assets allegedly amassed by him by selling narcotics. Hundal is the second Punjab Police Service (PPS) official to be dismissed from service on drug charges in recent years. Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann dismissed Hundal after acting on three special investigation team reports on the police-drug mafia nexus. The final findings of the three SIT reports were sent by the Punjab and Haryana high court to the state government for action on March 28.

HC fines Punjab’s former district attorney 10 lakh

The Punjab and Haryana high court has fined a former district attorney (DA) of Punjab with ₹10 lakh for making a false statement against a senior Punjab police officer, who was probing an FIR registered by the DA. The former DA, Narinder Singh Kahlon, had alleged before court that inspector general of police V Neerja, who was heading the special investigation team (SIT) in this case herself had changed the members of the SIT on her own.
