Punjab: Contractor held for ‘misappropriating’ funds in judicial complex project

Identified as Lakhwinder Singh, managing director of Tung Builders Private Limited, Gurdaspur, the accused had been absconding for more than three months, says a spokesperson of the Vigilance Bureau.

According to the Vigilance Bureau, further investigation is under progress and raids are being conducted at the residential and other locations of the remaining absconding accused.

Punjab CM Bhagwant Mann dedicates 20 more public mines in five districts

Punjab chief minister Bhagwant Mann announced the opening of 150 more public mining sites in the state, which will sell sand at a cheaper rate of ?5.50 per cubic feet. The state government has eradicated the sand mafia, which used to ensure that people only got cheap sand. These mines will not only provide cheap sand but will also provide employment to several youths. Only manual excavation of sand will be permitted, and the sand will only be sold for non-commercial construction projects.
