No sarus crane sighted in Ghaziabad in summer census

As per the UP information department data, the census was conducted on June 20-21 and the count revealed presence of 19,918 sarus cranes in total -- a rise of 396 from 2023

20,000 winged guests visited Keshopur Chhamb this season, less than last year

Keshopur Chhamb in Gurdaspur, one of Asia’s biggest wetlands, has recorded a dip in the number of migratory birds this year. The annual bird census conducted on Saturday and Sunday pegged the number of winged guests that arrived in the wetland this year at 20,528 birds.

Uttar Pradesh forest department to notify only 25ha of Dhanauri wetland

Along with a proposal to notify Dhanauri under the Wetlands (Conservation and Management) Rules, 2017, the proposal states that the International Crane Foundation will initiate a documentation of annual variation in numbers and distribution of sarus Cranes.
