UP Budget goes bigger, but fund utilisation remains a challenge

Departments were able to use only about 55% of allocated funds in the first three quarters;.there are indications that the spendings remained less than 60% till January 31, 2025.

UT administration falls 700 crore short its of projected tax revenue

According to figures updated by the Comptroller and Auditor General of India (CAG), out of a total revenue expenditure of ₹5, 858 crore, the administration incurred ₹5,053 crore in expenditure by December 31, 2024, leaving ₹708 crore to be spent in the last quarter

As per the CAG, the monthly expenditure of the administration is approximately <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>550 crore, which means that its requirement is of <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>1,650 crore for the last quarter, against the available <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>708 crore. Punjab government likely to miss capex target, only 32% achieved so far

Against a full-year capex of ₹10,354 crore envisaged in the budget, the state has spent ₹3,390 crore during the April-January period of the current fiscal, according to data on key economic indicators released recently. The capital expenditure incurred so far is 32.77% of the budgeted amount for FY24.

A finance department official said that capex numbers will look much better by the end of the fiscal though they may still fall short of the target envisaged in the budget

BMC budget 46 cr shy of 60k cr mark

The Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) in Mumbai has announced a budget of ₹59,954.75 crore for 2024-25, just ₹46 crore short of the ₹60,000-crore mark. The allocation is 10.5% higher than the previous year, but no new projects were announced and little provision was made to address air pollution. The capital expenditure in this year's budget is higher than the revenue expenditure, with 53% going towards development. The budget includes allocations for the coastal road, the Goregaon Mulund Link Road, and a study on making major infrastructure projects self-sustainable.

5 months on, KCR slashes his state budget by 20 percent amid slowdown worries

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi returned to power for a second successive term in December 2018, but the chief minister presented only a vote-on-account budget in February this year on the ground that there was no clarity on devolution of funds from the Centre in view of the Lok Sabha elections.
