Puneeth Rajkumar, called Appu by his fans, was born in Madras, Tamil Nadu. He was the son of late Kannada cinema legend Rajkumar. He entered the industry as a child artist. He was awarded the National Film Award for Best Child Artist, for the movie Bettada Hoovu. Later, he debuted with Appu in 2002 which instantly became a blockbuster hit. Raam, Hudugaru, and Anjani Putra are some of his memorable movies. He has been the lead star in 29 films since his acting debut till his last release being Yuvarathnaa, which came out in 2021. He died of cardiac arrest at the age of 46.
