PMC to auto record property ownership change on registration
Panvel Municipal Corporation in Maharashtra has introduced an automated system for registering property sales, boosting tax collection and reducing paperwork. Under the system, property owners must mention the Unique Property Identification Code on the property tax bill when registering a sale agreement with the deputy registrar. Once the agreement is concluded, the purchaser is automatically registered as the owner of the property and property tax bills are issued in their name. The system aims to provide integrated civic services to residents and improve transparency in the civic body's operations.
