Behbal Kalan firing case: Accused SP files application in court for dropping of proceedings

Former senior superintendent of police (SSP) Charanjit Singh Sharma, who is an accused in 2015 post-sacrilege firing cases, had earlier asked the court that the arguments on framing of charge be kept in “abeyance” until the SIT present reports of further investigation in Behbal Kalan firing case

Behbal Kalan Firing: IG Umranangal moves plea wants charges dropped

He told the court that as the state government had not sanctioned his prosecution, the proceedings against him should be dropped. The court has asked the prosecution to file a response before the next hearing,which is February 13.

Following a report by deputy inspector general (DIG) of police, Ferozepur range, saying that that Mansa police officials allegedly took bribe from the accused who attacked former Congress legislator from Budhlada Mangat Rai Bansal, director, Bureau of Investigation, has ordered registration of a first information report (FIR) and shifted the probe to the vigilance bureau
