Big relief for PSPCL as it wins legal battle against Nabha plant

The victory in the legal battle, which started in 2012, will now lead to ₹2,500 crore saving for the PSPCL as the power corporation is deducting 9.4 paise per unit from the NPL since it started operation.

UPERC clears decks for UPPCL to purchase 450 MW wind power

According to its roadmap, UPPCL needs to arrange 21,500 MW of renewable power by 2031-32 to meet its RPO obligations. This includes 8,500 MW of solar power, and 6,500 MW each of wind and hydro power.

It may be noted that the Union Ministry of Power (MoP) has increased the renewable power obligation (RPO) for discoms from 15% in 2023-24 to 29.91% in 2024-25. (Sourced)

Tata’s power purchase agreement extended by 5yrs

The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission has allowed Tata Power Company-Distribution to extend its power purchase agreement with Tata Power Company-Generation by another five years. Mumbai's power utilities have been facing difficulties in availing the transmission corridor, resulting in higher tariffs for consumers. The transmission capability of Mumbai needs to be enhanced by nearly 60% for any power procurement plan to be executed.

SJVN to supply 1,200MW solar power to PSPCL

SJVN has received the Letter of Intent (LOI) from the PSPCL for the procurement of 1,200 MW of solar power.

The PSPCL will be procuring 1,000 MW energy produced anywhere in India at a tariff of <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>2.53 per unit, while 200 MW energy produced in Punjab will be procured at a tariff of <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>2.75 per unit, it stated. (AFP File)

Adani Power begins electricity supply from Jharkhand plant to Bangladesh

“The Godda Power Plant is a strategic asset in the India-Bangladesh’s long-standing relationship,” said S B Khyalia, CEO of Adani Power, in the statement.

Andhra HC stalls govt move to review power purchase agreements, suspends order

A division bench of the high court headed by Justice M Ganga Rao, which heard a batch of petitions filed by nearly 40 private solar and wind power producers, ordered that the government order (GO. No. 63) be suspended for a period of four weeks and posted the case to August 22 for further hearing.

UP: Discoms told to maintain letter of credit

The Central government has made it compulsory for power distribution companies to open and maintain a Letter of Credit (LC) as a mechanism to ensure timely clearance of bills of power generating companies.

The discoms will also be liable to pay compensation to the generation companies if the RLDC/SLDC is not able to schedule and dispatch power due to a discom not opening and maintaining the LC with adequate credit.(Representative image)
