Sharad Pawar’s NCP admits 40 MLAs have defected to Ajit camp

NCP has admitted that 40 of its 53 MLAs have shifted loyalty to the group led by Ajit Pawar, prompting the party to seek their disqualification for anti-party activities. Both factions have filed affidavits before the Election Commission of India. The ECI will decide if it needs to start proceedings under the Election Symbols Order.

Rahul Gandhi's namesake disqualified, days after his parliament expulsion

The Congress leader was also disqualified last week, but for another reason - his conviction and sentencing in a criminal defamation case.

Karnataka Legislative Council poll: Cong candidate has assets worth 1,743 cr

Yusuf Sharif is a Congress candidate. The 54-year-old is the owner of Umrah Developers and is known to flaunt his wealth. The Congress on Monday announced the names of 20 candidates for the biennial elections.
