State approves cluster redevelopment in Abhyudaya Nagar

Parel jeweller duped of 2.41 cr by gold trader

Four CR stations to get a swanky 101-cr facelift

The Central Railway has started redevelopment works at four Mumbai stations - Parel, Byculla, Kanjurmarg, and Vikhroli - with a total cost of ₹101 crore. The project aims to widen station premises and improve facilities for commuters. The work is expected to be completed within a year.

Two suspected leptospirosis deaths in 10 days; cases all-time high in five years

Two suspected leptospirosis deaths have been reported in Mumbai, bringing the total number of suspected deaths this year to three. The city has also seen 661 cases of leptospirosis, the highest in five years. Leptospirosis is an infectious disease caused by bacteria and is commonly transmitted to humans through cuts or ingestion of floodwater. The city has issued an advisory for citizens who have come into contact with rainwater to take preventive medication.

2 members of VBA, including Yuva president, assaulted in Parel

CR workers unearth 100-year-old tracks between Vidyavihar, Kurla

Usually when the railways find old, rusted pieces of metal on their property, they are sold as scrap to bidders through tenders. However, in this case, senior officials said they will retain a part of the unearthed GIPR tracks and it will be kept in the heritage gully at P D’mello side entrance of Chhattrapati Shivaji Maharaj Terminus (CSMT). The rest of the old track is likely to be sold as scrap.

Tempo driver arrested for trying to kidnap boy in Parel

The complainant, Anil Gupta, 41 lives in Parel with his wife, an 18-year-old daughter and a 10-year-old son. “After having dinner, Gupta’s son was sitting outside their house around 11:30pm on Tuesday when the accused approached him. Shigate convinced the boy to sit in his car, saying that he would take him for a ride in his vehicle,” said a police officer.

“A team from Kalachowkie Police Station reached the spot and took the accused into custody. During interrogation, the accused revealed that he came to Mumbai and parked his car some distance away from the victim’s residence,” said deputy commissioner of police, Zone 4, Pravin Mundhe. “It appears that the suspect was taking away the boy with some wrong intention. Biker booked after pillion dies in crash in Parel

The deceased, identified as Vishwas Chavan, 59, was a resident of Curry Road and lived with his wife and children.

“After checking CCTV footage and inquiring in the vicinity we came to know that they were roaming in the area and Mahadeshwar was riding his bike, while Chavan was a pillion rider when he lost control due to high speed and crashed into the monorail pillar. Vertical shades of green at CR stations

The Central Railway in Mumbai is planning to set up vertical gardens at 15 railway stations on its main and harbour lines as part of its Amrit Bharat Station scheme. The gardens will be located in and around concourse areas and will be used to improve the aesthetics of the stations and increase the green quotient. The gardens will cost around INR14.72 crore ($2.2m) and will be developed within a year of the contract being awarded.

As BMC starts 44 new HBT clinics, existing centres face non-payment of salaries

Healthcare workers at Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation's (BMC) Hinduhridaysamrat Balasaheb Thackeray (HBT) clinics are facing non-payment of salaries, despite the addition of 44 new clinics. The HBT project aims to decongest tertiary care hospitals and strengthen primary healthcare. Doctors in six wards are still waiting for their salaries, with one doctor questioning why there is a delay in resolving the issue. The HBT doctors also reported a shortage of medicines, including antibiotics and blood pressure medication, with patient inflow affected. A senior BMC health official said the salary issue will be resolved this month.

KEM gets city’s first dedicated casualty service for children

“We have created a four-bed emergency facility within our existing casualty department which will be taken care of by paediatricians,” Dr Sangeeta Ravat, dean, KEM Hospital, said.

The hospital has also inaugurated an 8-bedded emergency orthopaedic facility along with the paediatric service. “In the casualty, we see many poly-trauma cases which do not require surgery immediately but require doctors trained to handle trauma patients who will stabilise them before shifting them to the ward,” said Dr Ravat.
