Ashoka, a leopard at Lucknow zoo, dies at 14

A 14-year-old leopard named Ashoka passed away at Nawab Wajid Ali Shah Zoological Garden due to poor health conditions. Veterinarians tried to nurse him back to health for thirteen days, but he had not been consuming food. An autopsy has been completed, and the zoo currently has 11 leopards.

State appoints 17-member panel for development of Aarey Colony

The Maharashtra government has formed a 17-member committee to oversee the development of Aarey Milk Colony. The move has sparked controversy as the MLA from Jogeshwari, under which the majority of Aarey falls, has not been appointed to the panel. The committee will examine a consultant's report and recommend changes to make Aarey encroachment-free and develop it as a tourism spot without disturbing the ecosystem. The government plans to monetise the land parcels at Aarey Colony and Worli through commercial development.
