Gurugram Metro: Palam Vihar to Dwarka phase likely to take off soon

The metro project to connect Palam Vihar in Gurugram to Sector 21 in Dwarka was approved by the Haryana government in October 2022. This metro spur will cost an estimated ₹1,687 crore and Haryana will have to bear ₹1,541 crore of the total cost, according to state government officials

According to HMRTC officials, the spur or metro extension connecting Rezangla Chowk in Palam Vihar and Dwarka Sector 21 station will be 8.4 km long, of which 5 km will be from Palam Vihar to Sector 111 in Gurugram and the remaining 3.4 km will be in Delhi. (HT PHOTO)

Flood situation eases but more rain likely

Water levels in the Yamuna river in Delhi are receding, allowing for the reopening of roads and the resumption of normal operations for the Delhi Metro. The Delhi government is also providing financial aid to flood-affected families and plans to set up special camps for those who lost their identification documents. However, the city must not forget the lessons learned from this flood and must prepare for future climate-related disasters. Water supply to affected areas is expected to be restored from Monday.

Gurugram Metro: HMRTC floats tenders for geo-technical survey

The Gurugram Metro project, which has been on hold for six years, is moving forward as the Haryana Mass Rapid Transport Corporation has opened tenders for a geo-technical survey of the 12.76km portion of the 28.60km line. The project will extend the Metro rail line from Huda City Centre to Old Gururgam and finally to CyberHub in a loop, connecting the entire city. The project is estimated to cost INR6,800 crore ($929m) and awaits final approval from the Union cabinet.
