Covid-19: Rajasthan adds 16 more tankers for oxygen transport; total 38

Coronavirus disease (Covid-19) update: Rajasthan chief secretary Niranjan Arya said the number of tankers for transporting oxygen has increased from 22 to 38. The supply of oxygen concentrators has also started now.

EU regulator backs dexamethasone as Covid-19 treatment

The European Medicines Agency (EMA) said on Friday the drug could be an option to treat adults and adolescents needing oxygen therapy or mechanical ventilation, after concluding its review of results from a trial by British scientists.

The drug has since been approved in Japan as a Covid-19 treatment.(PTI)

Despite unfavourable trial outcome, PGIMER to continue with plasma therapy

A trial conducted across 39 hospitals in India has revealed that plasma therapy neither reduces the death risk nor does it slow down the progression of the disease from mild to severe stage. The paper, however, is yet to be peer reviewed.

Demand for oxygen therapy to combat pollution rising but docs divided on its use

According to several hospitals in the city, there has been a rise in cases where hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT), which involves breathing oxygen in a pressurised room or tube, has been administered to patients with respiratory illnesses. The therapy ensures the immune system has enough oxygen to keep the body healthy.

Village ventilator: Pune startup breathes new life into oxygen supply for rural patients

An oxygen enrichment unit (OEU) developed by a Pune firm which tapped into a National Chemical Laboratory (NCL) technology here could well meet the demand for oxygen by premature babies born in rural India. It could also help other rural patients suffering from COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease), asthma and other pulmonary ailments.
