Footpaths in Delhi’s GK-1, Nizamuddin freed from encroachments after Supreme Court order

The action comes two days after the Supreme Court expressed concerns over the growing parking menace and encroachment on pavements in Delhi. The apex court had noted that footpaths are meant for pedestrians and many people encroach footpaths for reasons such as extending the garden, making security guard cabins, etc.

As many as 400 permanent and temporary structures were demolished in Greater Kailash-1 on Wednesday. The drive will be taken up in other south Delhi areas as well, said officials.(Sourced)

Nizamuddin Dargah: Delhi High Court seeks responses from govt, trust in women’s entry case

In the present case, the plea filed through advocate Kamlesh Kumar Mishra alleged that a notice has been put up outside the Nizamuddin ‘dargah’ -- a shrine built over the grave of Sufi saint Hazrat Nizamuddin Aulia -- clearly stating in English and Hindi that women are not allowed inside.
