Meghalaya mining disaster: One more body spotted by navy vehicle

A day after decomposed body parts of an unknown person were detected by Indian Navy divers using an underwater remotely operated vehicle, another body was detected today by the UROV at the flooded coal mine in Meghalaya.

Navy abandons efforts to pull out decomposed body of Meghalaya miner

The Navy divers had spotted the decomposed body of a trapped miner on Wednesday, using an unmanned, remotely-operated vehicle (ROV) at a depth of around 160 feet inside the mine’s main shaft.

Navy divers get inside Meghalaya coal mine; no trace yet of 15 trapped

A team of Indian Navy divers which entered the approximately 350 feet-deep shaft of  the flooded rat-hole coal mine in Meghalaya, where 15 miners remain trapped since December 13, could not get to its bottom as it emerged that the NDRF had miscalculated the depth of water in it.

Meghalaya miners rescue: Ops delayed as Odisha, navy teams yet to arrive

On Saturday, a three-member advance team of the Indian Navy had visited the site and had conducted a recce of the site and the mine. The three-member team included an officer and two clearance divers. A 21-member team from the Odisha Fire Service contingent had also visited the site.
