Myanmar's military said the death toll from Friday's 7.7 magnitude quake reached 2,719 as of Tuesday morning and was expected to surpass 3,000

A joint team of Myanmar and Turkish rescuers pulled a man alive from the rubble of a hotel in the capital Naypyidaw, five days after a major earthquake struck central Myanmar. The shallow 7.7-magnitude quake flattened buildings across Myanmar, killing more than 2,700 people and making thousands more homeless.(AFP)

The death toll in Thailand also increased to 17 in the aftermath of the deadly earthquake that hit central Bangkok and other parts of the country.
