US bid to block entry of Russian vessels at Mumbai port rejected

The American consulate in Mumbai reportedly wrote to the Mumbai Port Authority last month, saying that Russian vessels should not be allowed to call at the port because of American sanctions imposed on Russia over the invasion of Ukraine.

India on Thursday rejected an apparent effort by the US to block the entry of Russian vessels at the Mumbai port and said the US consulate in the financial hub should not have directly communicated with local authorities on this issue. (REUTERS)

High court allows detained vessel to move out of Mumbai port till Cyclone Nisarga passes

The court on Tuesday heard an urgent application from the ship’s owners that was supported by Mumbai Port Trust, as it feared the 14-deck cruise ship could cause huge damage to the port if it was caught in the cyclone.

Stranded cruise ship crew to land at Mumbai Port on Thursday

According to a press note issued by Maharashtra chief minister Uddhav Thackeray’s office, the seafarers and crew members will be subjected to a Covid-19 test and will remain quarantined in a building within the port trust premises till their reports are received.
