Interstate police meet ahead of assembly polls

Muhammad Akil, the commissioner of police, Gurugram told media persons that several aspects related to joint patrolling, setting up checkpoints on strategic roads (even non-motorable roads), and the smuggling of arms, illicit liquor, cash and narcotics, were discussed.

In the run-up to the elections, a comprehensive security plan would be prepared and lists of most-wanted criminals, proclaimed offenders, henchmen and parole jumpers would be shared between districts, he said.(Ht image)

Police to e-mail over 1 lakh foreigners who fell prey to ‘tech support’ scams

Muhammad Akil replaces Krishan Kumar Rao as Gurugram top cop

A 1989 IPS batch officer, Akil, who was previously ADGP, law and order, was also holding additional charge of chief vigilance officer. He will replace 1996-batch IPS officer, Krishan Kumar Rao, who has been made IGP, Regional Training Centre, Bhondsi.
