Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde is launching the 'Bhakti-Shakti Samvad Yatra' to connect with religious groups and strengthen his party's support base. The yatra will visit major temples and spiritual sects across the state, and will be led by the 'Dharmveer Adhyatmik Sena' wing of Shinde's Shiv Sena party. The yatra will last until February 28 and will be monitored by MP Shrikant Shinde. Monsoon leaves state with drought-like situation

The end of the monsoon season in India has left the state of Maharashtra facing a water deficit of around 26%, with the drought-prone region of Marathwada having the lowest water availability. The insufficient rainfall has led to over 2,300 villages and hamlets being supplied with potable water through tankers, a number that is expected to increase in the coming months. The deficit in water availability is also affecting hydro power generation in the state.

14 districts record high rainfall deficiency; Jalna, Satara, and Sangli most vulnerable

At least 14 districts in Maharashtra are facing significant rainfall deficiency, with Jalna, Satara, and Sangli among the worst affected, according to the India Meteorological Department. Marathwada has the highest number of districts with deficiency, followed by central Maharashtra and Vidarbha. However, three districts - Nanded, Palghar, and Thane - are experiencing excess rainfall. While light rainfall is expected in isolated areas, the influence of westerlies is expected to increase in 48 hours, leading to light to moderate rainfall in certain regions.
