Alita: Battle Angel doesn’t stand out in the sci-fi genre, says Rashid Irani

We were led to expect a memorable spectacle from the creators of Avatar and Sin City, but their joint venture is best deleted from the memory files.

Rosa Salazar, in a striking motion-capture performance, plays a robotic shell who discovers she is actually a warrior, and must save the world from annihilation. Sadly, we’ve been there, endured that in any number of better films in the past.

A compelling tale of then and now: Green Book movie review

The film, set in the 1960s, tracks the all-pervasive racism of the time and the casual cruelty it entailed, and yet manages to not be grim.

Based on a true story, Green Book follows the Jamaican classical pianist Don Shirly and his driver, an Italian former New York bouncer named Tony ‘Lip’ Vallelonga, on a journey into the American Deep South.
