Department struggles to protect private forest lands from former owners

The Pune forest department, comprising Pune and Junnar divisions, is facing about 180 legal disputes on ownership of over one-fourth of its private forest land ranging between 2,800 and 3,000 hectares

Film personalities flag ‘double toll collection’ at Lonavla on Expressway

Recently, Marathi actor-poet Kishore Kadam, and actress Rujuta Deshmukh claimed to have been subjected to “double toll” on the Pune-Mumbai expressway at Lonavla entry and exit point

Ghat areas receive good rainfall

Moderate rainfall was reported in Pune, Lonavla, and Mulshi areas in the last 24 hours. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) recorded 1mm rainfall in Pune city. Lonavla and Lavasa recorded 28.5mm and 28mm rainfall respectively. The IMD has forecasted a gradual rise in rainfall in the coming days.
