Family sources said Madhumita, 53, had suffered a heart attack around 10.30am on Friday following which she was rushed to a hospital. However, her health condition deteriorated and she passed away early on Saturday.

Behbal Kalan firing: SIT seeks more time to submit status report on allegations against ex-SIT member

Mahinder Singh, father of deceased Krishan Bhagwan Singh, who was killed in the police firing at Behbal Kalan on October 14, 2015, had filed an application in the court for recalling the order with regard to tender of pardon to prime accused inspector Pardeep Singh.

In September 2020, the then IGP and member of SIT Kunwar Vijay had appeared in the court and claimed that making Pardeep an approver would strengthen the prosecution’s case against the culprits. Pardeep was made an approver in the case. (File)

2015 Behbal Kalan police firing: Kunwar Vijay seeks permission to contest witnesses’ allegation

AAP MLA and former IG Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh has sought permission from the court to contest allegations made against him by witnesses in the Behbal Kalan firing case. The witnesses accused Singh of twisting their statements and making arrests without proof. The court has posted the matter for July 21 and asked for a report from the SIT investigating the case.

The first chargesheet filed in the Kotkapura firing case on May 27 said that incidents of desecration of Guru Granth Sahib were “a pre-planned handiwork of then deputy chief minister Sukhbir Singh Badal, then DGP Sumedh Singh Saini and Sirsa-based Dera Sacha Sauda”.
