Woman driver runs over 19-yr-old girl in Chandigarh

Chandigarh A 19-year-old girl crossing the road was run over by a speeding SUV being driven by a 21-year-old girl on Dakshin Marg on Tuesday. The victim has been identified as Akshita Abrol of Udhampur in Jammu and Kashmir. She had moved to Chandigarh a month ago to take coaching classes for banking exams in Sector 34 and was staying in Sector 21.

Cyclone Vayu may hit Gujarat coast tomorrow, schools and colleges closed

The IMD has issued a warning of heavy rains and high winds at a speed of over 110 km per hour on June 13 and 14 in the coastal areas of Saurashtra and Kutch.

An intensified storm from the Arabian Sea is likely to strengthen into a severe cyclonic storm that is heading towards Gujarat state. As a way to face the now called cyclone 'Vayu' NDRF personnel are deployed to different coastal regions of the state.(AFP photo)

Under Belt and Road Initiative, China builds rail line in Sri Lanka, a first since 1948

China has said that it has built a rail line in Sri Lanka under its Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) project. It said it was the first rail line to be built in Sri Lanka since 1948.

China to invest $119 billion in railway in 2019, to ready 30,000 km high-speed tracks

The total expansion plan for 2019 is 6800 km, Lu said, adding of which 3200 km will be high-speed tracks for trains that can ply over 300 km per hour.
