Odisha’s Chilika Lake logs its highest ever count with 11.42 lakh migratory birds

The annual bird count of Asia’s largest brackish water lagoon undertaken on Tuesday revealed a record presence of 11.42 lakh migratory birds from 190 species.

Covering an approx area of 1,100 sq km, the lagoon is the largest wintering ground for migratory birds in India. It welcomes numerous species of endangered birds every winter season.(HT PHOTO.)

Odisha reports 1,000+ Covid-19 cases for second consecutive day

The 1,264 positive cases that the state reported in last 24 hours was its highest single day surge so far taking the total to 21,099.

While the state took 114 days to record its first 10,000 cases, it took just 15 days to register the next 10,000 cases.(HT Photo)

To drop red zone tag, Bhubaneswar begins collecting 5000 samples for Covid-19 tests

So far, Bhubaneswar has accounted for 46 of the 60 positive cases in Odisha resulting in the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare tagging Khurda district among the 170 Covid-19 hotspot districts.

Chief secretary Asit Tripathy said the 5000 samples would be collected from people with vulnerabilities to Covid-19 in an intensive drive to find out the exact spread of coronavirus in the Odisha capital with 1-million plus population.(ANI PHOTO.)

Odisha to roll out massive loan plan for Cylone Fani victims

As per the final loss assessment submitted by the state government to the Centre, at least 64 people were killed, 12 seriously injured and over 1.6 crore people affected in 14 districts.
