FYJC: Third merit list shows rise in cut-offs, leaves students disappointed

The third merit list for FYJC admissions in Mumbai shows a significant increase in cut-off percentages, disappointing students who scored below 85%. Most colleges now demand above 95% for admission. Students who scored between 90% and 98% dominated the admissions process. The education department is urged to find a way to ensure at least 80% of applicants secure admission in the first three rounds.

25,000 FYJC aspirants yet to get seats after 4 rounds

Admissions under the special merit list, which was the last merit-based admission round, concluded on August 19. Under the special round, a total of 56,375 students had applied for admission. Of these, only 28,978 students ended up confirming their admissions.

Oral examinations for Class 10 from the current academic year, according to sources in the committee that was appointed to review the policy, they are likely to return.

FYJC cut-offs in minority colleges of Mumbai dip

While the cut-off for the seats under the minority quota for the Science stream went down from 80.8% in 2018 to 77.2% this year, the cut-off list for the Arts stream the went down from 86.2% to 84%. College principal Rajendra Shinde was not available to comment on the development.
