Ludhiana: Shop owners to keep record of sale of army, police uniforms

To ensure law-and-order situation and prevent crime in the city, joint commissioner of police (JCP, city) Saumya Mishra on Tuesday issued orders to shopkeepers selling police, homeguard, paramilitary and army uniforms to keep a record of the sale and identity of the buyer

NRI settled in New Zealand arrested in loan fraud case

Anil Gaikwad, a 41-year-old man settled in New Zealand, was arrested by Mumbai's EOW for his role in a car loan fraud case registered nine years ago. Gaikwad had taken a loan of ?10 lakhs for purchasing a Toyota Innova car and submitted a fake Registration Certificate (RC) to the bank which later turned out to be the number of a Maruti Suzuki Swift car. In all, 16 loans were taken in which the bank was cheated to the tune of ?1.57 crores.

Khatri had threatened Solanki 3 days before suicide, police tell special court

IIT-Bombay student Arman Iqbal Khatri has had his police custody extended for two days over charges of abetting his batchmate Darshan Solanki's suicide. Khatri had allegedly threatened Solanki with a paper cutter after being abused over his religion. Solanki killed himself three days later. Solanki's phone has been sent for a forensic test, and statements from other students are to be recorded. Khatri's phone has also been sent for analysis. The court has been set up to deal with cases under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

PMC closes one alternate road to reduce traffic congestion in Mohammadwadi-NIBM

Pune Municipal Corporation closed down an alternate route causing acute traffic jams and chaos after the main Mohammadwadi-NIBM Link Road was shut down. Residents have alleged that the decision was made without proper planning or consultation with the traffic department and citizens. The issue was brought to the attention of the joint commissioner of police who has directed the traffic department to expedite the deployment of traffic constables to provide relief to the residents.

Delhi police start online facility for obtaining licences for public performances

Joint commissioner of police (licensing) Prabhakar said that the list of open venues excludes 26 premises and prominent hotels, which already have valid online licences to hold such events.

The Delhi Police’s licensing department has started an online facility to accept applications and award casual performance licences (CPL) to persons organising public performances at open and closed venues such as stadiums, banquet halls, open grounds, farmhouses, and hotels.(PTI)

Over 450 medium, heavy goods vehicles denied entry into Delhi

More than 450 heavy and medium goods vehicles were sent back from Delhi borders due to a three-day ban on their entry till Sunday, authorities said. According to Joint Commissioner of Police (Traffic) Alok Kumar, 1,559 vehicles were checked and 1,078 vehicles were allowed entry from 11 pm on Friday till 6 am on Saturday.
