6k trees cut in Corbett reserve for proposed tiger safari: FSI report

First tiger translocation in Uttarakhand from Corbett to Rajaji Tiger Reserve in October

Initially, five tigers, including two young males and three females, will be shifted in a phased manner to Rajaji’s western part that has not reported any breeding of the animals in about a decade.

10 quarantine camps to come up at Corbett Tiger Reserve

The move is prompted by news that a tiger at the Bronx zoo tested positive for Covid-19, although it is reported that the big cat was infected by its keeper -- not a problem for animals in the wild. Corbett Tiger Reserve has around 260 tigers , according to forest officials.
