Thousands of employees have been stung by the rapid unravelling of Jet Airways, which, saddled with more than $1.2 billion in bank debt, grounded all its planes on Wednesday after lenders rejected a plea for emergency funds.

Jet Airways pilots, engineers joining SpiceJet at 30-50% pay cut: Report

Spicejet is now hiring engineers and pilots at much lower pay than their current salaries at the financialy-troubled Jet. Industry sources told IANS that pilots from Jet Airways are being asked to take salary cuts of 25-30 per cent while engineers have been advised to settle at 50 per cent of their current pay package.

A senior commander with Jet Airways said that pilots with 4-5 years of experience are going to other airlines as they are feeling the pinch of salary delays.(Mint)

Pilots of Jet Airways defer strike, seek salary dues by April 14

The pilots’ union has decided to give Jet’s new interim management until April 14 to clear salary dues “in conjunction with interim funding”, and deferred the plans of a strike until then, the National Aviators Guild said in a statement to its members.
