HC orders inquiry into state excise officials for seizing Ethanol consignment
The Bombay High Court has directed the state government to investigate the seizure of Ethanol stock by state excise officials. The court deemed the action "high-handed" and illegal, as it had previously ruled that Ethanol does not fall under the Bombay Prohibition Act. The court has ordered an inquiry and for appropriate action to be taken against the officials involved. The seized Ethanol is to be released immediately.

371 tonnes of smuggled areca nuts worth ₹32.31 crore seized at JNPT
The containers were supposed to contain calcium nitrate, and the importer mis-declared the areca nuts to evade Customs duty of ₹36 crore, a DRI source said, adding, “The 14 containers were destined for the Inland Container Depot (ICD) in Talegaon, Pune”
