Karnal MC struggling to recover ₹112 cr in pending property tax from central govt institutions

The National Dairy Research Institute (NDRI), which works under the Indian Council of Agricultural Research (ICAR), is the biggest defaulter, owing ₹72.5 crore to the MC. Top ten defaulting Ludhiana units named by EPFO

A senior official of the department said these establishments have repeatedly neglected their obligation to remit employees’ contribution under section 7A, penalties under section 14B, interest under section 7Q levied against them and their action are in violation of the law under the EPFMP Act,1952.

Maharashtra state govt has deferred a proposal to extend a margin money loan of INR1,024 crore ($138m) to nine sugar factories controlled by BJP leaders. The NCDC loan would have come at a 9.72% interest rate and would have been the responsibility of the state govt to repay. Following the objection of a few ministers, the govt decided to lay down stricter norms and the loan policy has been made stricter. The factories failing to repay the capital and margin money loan will not be eligible for fresh loans and the factories run by private entities will not be eligible for the loan.
