‘High-ranking Mumbai cop’ dupes women of ₹15L by threatening them
A man posing as a high-ranking Mumbai police officer has been booked for cheating several women across the country of lakhs of rupees by threatening them with criminal cases. The victims were contacted through WhatsApp and Skype and asked to pay ?5 lakh to remove their names from a false First Information Report. Three women from Pune, Pimpri Chinchwad and Delhi have reported having paid ?5 lakh each to the accused. The case has been registered against an unknown person on charges of cheating, forgery and identity theft.
