Civic body finds 7 plots to create 8,140 PAP homes

With housing units at Mahul ruled out after the Bombay high court (HC) order, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has identified seven public plots, admeasuring over 1 lakh square meters, to build 8,140 housing units for those affected by various infrastructure projects.

Area for affordable housing units doubled in Haryana

These houses are allotted to the buyers on the basis of a draw of lots conducted under the supervision of government authorities. The scheme is open to all applicants but preference is given to those who have not been allotted a plot or flat in HSVP or other licensed colonies in the state.

In August, the state government had increased the area available for affordable category housing from 15 acres to 30 acres per sector.(HT FILE)

Chennai, Bengaluru, Pune have delayed flats worth 11,000 crore

According to JLL data, the real estate firms of Delhi-NCR are biggest defaulters as their contribution in delayed housing units accounts for 71% in volume and 56% in value terms. Kolkata has the least number of delayed units at 384 worth ₹288 crore.

The Ghaziabad Development Authority (GDA), which was given a target to give approval for at least 13,500 houses for economically backward classes in the financial year 2018-19, has sent project reports for construction of about 19,000 houses.

Budget 2019: Govt extends tax sops for affordable home developers; no tax on notional rent for unsold units

In his budget speech, Goyal said benefits under Section 80-IBA of the Income Tax Act are being extended for one more year, i.e, to housing projects approved till March next year. This proposal would boost supply of affordable housing.
