Supreme Court raps Haryana Urban Development Authority for filing ‘frivolous’ appeal
The Supreme Court has imposed a cost of INR1 lakh ($1,355) on Haryana Urban Development Authority for filing a ?frivolous appeal? and wasting the court's time in a case involving a demand for more money from a man for allotment of a plot of land, while also awarding the man a cost of INR50,000. The court criticised the conduct of litigants, who are ?choking the dockets? with frivolous litigations, causing delays in matters that require consideration. The bench said the amount should be recovered from guilty officials who opined the case was fit for appeal despite a previous judgment.
