Tarn Taran blast accused alleges torture, court issues notice to NIA

Mandeep Singh, aka Massa, who is lodged at the Amritsar Central Jail, had alleged torture and pressure to turn him an approver in the case, through a letter written in Punjabi submitted in the court through his lawyer Jaspal Singh Manjhpur. The court has issued a notice to the NIA for March 26 to file a reply.

Tarn Taran A vigilance team arrested Jagan Nath, a reader of the Tarn Taran sub-divisional magistrate (SMD) red-handed while accepting ₹15,000 in bribe from a woman. 15 kg heroin seized in Amritsar, 6 held

The counter-intelligence wing of Punjab Police on Friday arrested six drug peddlers and recovered 15kg heroin from their possession at Ghonewal village under Ramdas police station in the district. In a press release issued here, officials of the wing said that following a tip-off, a team of the counter-intelligence unit, Amritsar, set up a naka at Ghonewal T-point and arrested the six drug peddlers and recovered 15 packets of heroin (of 1 kg each) from their possession.

Tarn Taran blast: NIA gets custody of three accused

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) probing the recent Tarn Taran blast got the custody of three accused. Five other accused were sent to judicial custody. The designated NIA court of NS Gill in Mohali on Friday sent Harjit Singh, Amritpal Singh and Gurjant Singh — who got injured in the blast — to custodial interrogation till September 11.
