PMC to procure 4 vehicles to improve garbage management

The Pune Municipal Corporation plans to purchase four vehicles for garbage management, costing ₹34.45 lakh, to monitor and take action against illegal dumping and burning.

Green Delhi mobile app ready, likely to be launched by CM Kejriwal on Thursday

The mobile application is part of the government’s seven-point action plan to fight air pollution, which was announced by chief minister Kejriwal on October 6.

North Delhi civic body to be fined Rs 1 crore for no action against garbage burning: Gopal Rai

The city recorded an air quality index (AQI) of 251 at 10 am. The 24-hour average AQI was 315 on Thursday, the worst since February 12 (AQI 320).

Pollution levels reduced slightly in the national capital on Friday with favourable wind speed helping in dispersion of pollutants, according to India Meteorological Department officials.(PTI)

Delhi’s air gets cleaner but waste burning goes on unabated

Senior officials of the Delhi Fire Services (DFS) said that apart from Monday’s fire, nearly 18 garbage burning and open fires were reported from across the city over the weekend (Saturday and Sunday).

Mumbai should ban open burning of garbage

After Delhi’s air quality in Diwali reached levels that required emergency interventions, the city started enforcing a rarely-used order from the National Green Tribunal that makes burning of garbage in the open an offence punishable with a fine. Last week, factories in the city’s outskirts were forced to shut down after it was found that the industrial units were resorting to open burning of waste.
