Tourists behind Morni fire to face action under Forest Act
District forest officer (DFO) Vishal Kaushik, who is also the complainant in the police case, said they are assessing the extent of the damage. However, preliminary assessment indicates it was a ground fire. He further explained that if the tourists are found guilty under the Forest Act, they could face a fine of up to ₹1 lakh. Panchkula: 4 youths booked for setting fire at Morni protected forest
Forest guard Sanjeev Kumar, who was patrolling the area, noticed the group. When he attempted to stop them and warn them of their actions, the youths allegedly manhandled him, misbehaved, and fled the spot with their vehicle. The forest guard was also reportedly threatened with dire consequences.
