Muktsar: 3 trying to extort contractor caught in police encounter

The accused were identified as Sukhmander Singh, Lakhvir Singh and Sarwan Singh, had posed as aides of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi to extract money from the contraction. One of the accused, Sukhmander Singh, sustained a bullet injury in the exchange of fire and was admitted to the hospital for treatment.

HC orders probe into Ferozepur contractor alleging extortion call from Bishnoi

The development comes at a time when on November 9, a coordinate bench of the high court also sought a report on the delay in the probe into interviews of gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, conducted by a private channel on two occasions in March this year. Wanted in multiple FIRs in Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh, the 36-year-old gangster has been in jail for over five years now and has not been released on bail.

Mahadev betting case: Authorities verifying if MOB promoter got extortion call from jailed gangster

Dubai-based co-promoter of the MOB app, Sourabh Chandrakar, allegedly received an extortion call from jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, according to sources. MOB, which conducts online betting, is under investigation for money laundering. The app's earnings from illegal betting activities are estimated to be worth ₹5,000 to ₹20,000 crore. There are also allegations that MOB has coordinated with a Pakistan-based associate to launch a betting app. Authorities are examining the details of the extortion call. The ED recently conducted searches against MOB's money laundering networks in various cities and froze/seized proceeds of crime worth ₹417 crore.
