According to the report, for the engineering and technology stream the overall enrollment in all UG, PG, M.Phil. and Ph.D. levels is 41,31,303.

Delhi LG nod to employ 10,000 home guards

Lieutenant Governor VK Saxena has approved the enrolment of over 10,000 personnel as Delhi home guards, with the selection process to be completed by March 2024. However, the LG has made changes to the recruitment process, including lowering the age limit to 45 years, raising the minimum qualification to Class 12, and giving preference to former civil defence volunteers. The Delhi government and LG's office have clashed over the services of CDVs, with legal objections raised about their appointment to regular jobs. CDVs have been protesting for several weeks over salary delays.

State to implement cluster school concept to accommodate 18K students

The government of Mumbai plans to merge schools with low enrollment to improve education and infrastructure. Over 17,600 schools have less than 20 students and one or two teachers. The cluster school concept has been successful in two pilot schools and the government plans to expand it to other districts with financial assistance from the state and central governments.

Poor enrolment in 191 govt primary schools of 19 U.P. districts

Enrolment of students in Class 1 in 191 government primary schools across 19 districts in India is poor, with hardly four or less students taking admission. The Basic Education Department is focusing on School Chalo Abhiyan, but this has not improved enrolment. The department conducted a survey under the School Readiness drive, which revealed the poor enrolment, and has sought clarification from the district officials. The government provides free textbooks, uniforms, shoes and mid-day meals, but still, there are very few takers for government schools.
