UK honours Kumar Bhattacharyya for key role in British engineering

Major changes in engineering courses in the offing

Laying down the roadmap for major changes in engineering courses, the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE) on Wednesday unveiled its policies on student internships, examination reform and the training of technical teachers.

As part of its recommendations, students pursuing bachelor’s degree in engineering will have to undergo at least 600 to 700 hours of internships which would earn them credits.(HT/Picture for representation)

AICTE to check mushrooming pharmaceutical colleges in Maharashtra

Academicians point out that stringent laws imposed on engineering colleges and higher percentage of vacant seats have led college managements and students to opt for pharmacy colleges.

According to AICTE website, more than 1,600 institutes in the country offer pharmacy courses. Among these, Maharashtra stands on top with a total of 438 pharma colleges, followed by Uttar Pradesh (170), Telangana (151), and Andhra Pradesh (142).(HINDUSTAN TIMES PHOTO)
