Elgar Parishad case: NIA opposes Mahesh Raut’s bail plea in HC, claims he acted against interest of state

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has opposed the appeal of Elgar Parishad accused Mahesh Raut in the Bombay high court, stating that he was involved in anti-national activities and recruiting for the banned CPI (Maoist). The NIA has sought further time to file documents and the hearing is scheduled for July 12.

Elgar Parishad-Bhima Koregaon accused Anand Teltumbde released from prison

Anand Teltumbde is the third of the 16 accused arrested in the case to be released on bail. Poet Varavara Rao is currently out on bail on health grounds while lawyer Sudha Bharadwaj is out on regular bail.

Anand Teltumbde, 73, who spent two-and-a-half years behind bars in the case, walked out of the jail around 1.15 pm on Sunday, news agency PTI reported.(PTI file)

Elgar Parishad case: Ferreira seeks copy of order permitting email interception

‘Stan Swamy’s death a custodial killing’, claims Goa Cong; to hold protest today

Stan Swamy, one of the accused in the Elgar Parishad case, also referred to as the Bhima Koregaon violence, passed away on Monday. Swamy had suffered a cardiac arrest at 4am, Dr Ian D’souza of the Holy Family Hospital told the Bombay high court on Monday during a hearing on his bail plea, adding that he was declared dead at 1.30pm
