Many locals said they supported the protesters by providing them fresh produce, vegetables and milk, but pointed out that they also bore the brunt of the traffic diversions and blockades.

Modi to launch Saryu canal project today, lakhs of farmers in east UP to benefit

When the Prime Minister inaugurates the Saryu Nahar National Project today at Balrampur in Uttar Pradesh, protesting farmers will be returning to their villages from the Delhi border as a result of the peasants' unions calling off their year-long agitation.

Saryu Nahar National Project built at a cost of over <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>9800 crore is ready to be inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on December 11th, in Balrampur. (ANI)
