HC rejects Anil Jaisinghani’s petition against ‘illegal’ arrest

Bookie Anil Jaisinghani and his cousin Nirmal have failed to challenge their arrest for trying to bribe and blackmail Amruta Fadnavis, wife of Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis. The Bombay High Court refused to grant relief to the pair, who claimed that their detention and subsequent custody was illegal due to procedural lapses. The court rejected their petition, which claimed that police had violated sections 41 and 41A of the Criminal Procedure Code, stating that it lacked merits.
