Punjab seeks 1k crore package to boost police infra in border districts

Centre allocates 42k crore for J&K, focus on reducing fiscal deficit

Finance Minister allocated ₹42,277.74 crore to Jammu and Kashmir, including special assistance of ₹17,000 crore.

Union finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Tuesday allocated <span class='webrupee'>₹</span>42,277.74 crore to Jammu and Kashmir, a hike of 1.2% from last year when the Centre had allocated <span class='webrupee'>₹</span> 41,751.44 crore for the Union Territory.

Himachal seeks central assistance for floods on lines of Kedarnath tragedy

To tide over the destruction caused by flash floods in the state this monsoon, Himachal Pradesh chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu has sought central assistance on the lines of the assistance provided by the Centre to neighbouring Uttarakhand during the Kedarnath flood disaster in June 2013.
