Punjab: Kandi tubewell project delay vexes CAG

In its annual review of the working of public works divisions for the financial year 2022-23, the principal accountant general (audit) said the delay in allotment of works for implementation of the tubewell project is depriving the benefit of additional irrigation for 51,939 acres of land in five districts of the state and led to non-utilisation of funds.

SIT to probe CAG report on BMC’s 12,024 crore irregularities

Maharashtra's Chief Minister has ordered a special investigation team led by Mumbai's police commissioner to probe alleged irregularities worth INR120.24bn ($1.6bn) in nine departments of the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC). The move puts the ruling Shiv Sena under the scanner, with civic polls expected in the next few months and the Sena-BJP alliance aiming to wrest control of the BMC to display strength. The Comptroller and Auditor General had criticised the BMC for mismanagement, lack of transparency and callous handling of funds. The SIT will include the joint commissioner of police, economic offences wing, and senior officials.

CAG in its report said the Jammu and Kashmir Bank in December 2012 took over (Decfrom Indian Overseas Bank (IOB) the credit facilities of ₹ 11.50 crore favouring M/s Ace Engineering Infratech Private Ltd (Company) and enhanced (December 2012) the same to ₹14 crore.

CAG pulls up J&K home dept for releasing addl salary to cops

The government had released an additional month of salaries and wages to employees who had performed election duties during the local bodies and panchayat elections in J&K. The CAG, in its report, said that the conduct of municipal and panchayat elections, 2018, resulted in inadmissible payment of ₹1.58 crore in respect of 483 police personnel.
