CBI denies leniency in Bihar shelter home case, says probe ‘impartial’

In its affidavit filed in the apex court, the agency said, from the statement of victims recorded during the probe, names of 11 girls have emerged, who were allegedly murdered by Brajesh Thakur and his accomplices. It also said that one of the accused had pointed out a particular spot in a burial ground from where a bundle of bones was recovered.

Several girls were sexually abused at a shelter home, run by a non-government organisation, in Muzaffarpur. The issue come to light following a Tata Institute of Social Sciences report.(AP)

Officials said Enforcement Directorate has filed a case under the Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) in the Muzaffarpur shelter home case taking cognisance of a CBI FIR .

SC notice to Bihar, CBI on Patna HC order banning media from reporting Muzaffarpur shelter rape case

Over 30 girls were allegedly raped at the shelter home run by Brajesh Thakur, the chief of the state-funded NGO.

The Patna High Court, which has been monitoring the probe in the case, had on August 23 expressed displeasure over the leak of details of the investigation and had asked the media to refrain from publishing it as it could be detrimental to the probe.(Reuters)

In 2012, a special vigilance judge had issued warning to one of Brajesh Thakur’s newspapers for trying to malign/defame the court by making a select group of lawyers file false petitions with motivated allegations. The special vigilance court had then recommended action against him.
