NCR gears up for Kanwar yatra, security personnel deployed

Mumbai’s suburban railway network to get its own bomb disposal squad

A bomb detection and disposal squad (BDDS) for Mumbai’s suburban railway stations would be crucial as usually when a suspicious baggage is detected, the railways would have to call the city police bomb squad, often leading to a delay.

According to Central Railway (CR) officials, the bomb detection and disposal squad will be posted at CSMT, would inspect stations, local and outstation trains on the CR.(PTI File)

In security boost, 39 airports to get hand-held explosive scanner

Privately run airports and 18 Airports Authority of India (AAI) airports had the systems in place by 2012. AAI is procuring the systems for 39 more airports at the behest of the Bureau for Civil Aviation Security (BCAS).

Gujarat school owner receives surprise gift in a box, a ‘parcel bomb’

The owner of a private school in Rajkot district of Gujarat received a ‘parcel bomb’ which was successfully destroyed by police Wednesday morning, a senior official said.
